A criminal record or police record is a history with the criminal justice system. Every judicial system is based on the countries laws, so the existence of a criminal record varies between countries and between localized jurisdictions within that country.
In most cases it lists all non-expunged criminal offences and may also include traffic offences such as speeding and drunk driving. In some countries its strictly limited to actual convictions, while other countries include minor arrests, dismissed cases, charges pending and acquittals.
Checks are a prerequisite for people working in positions with special security concerns, such as trucking, ports of entry, and airports (including airline transportation).
These checks are used as protective measures to prevent people with criminal records from working in careers involving the elderly, disabled, or children.
What information will be recorded on a South African PCC?
If one is found guilty and charged, the offence will be recorded, irrespective of the charge. Minor offences like drunk and disorderly and shop lifting will also appear if charged, as well as admissions of guilt.
If a criminal case was opened and the investigating officer took your warning statement and fingerprints, the pending case will not appear on your clearance certificate, but all pending matters will appear on the criminal check
Our process
The AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System) is used to electronically check the fingerprints directly against the South African Police Services (SAPS) database to determine a possible criminal record.
Criminal Record checks are legally required to be verified by using a set of digitally captured fingerprints in South Africa.

Our report has MIE details on it but they both come from the same database which is the updated database of the SAP
Another difference is that the clearance certificate will only pick up convictions. Our searches will include convictions and any pending trials on the candidates fingerprints/ details.
